Children often have difficulty in falling asleep at night. Sometimes, before they sleep, they want their guardians to read storybooks for them. There are various mythical characters that they can imagine. From the western myth, there is an imaginary creature named sandman who sprinkles magic sand in the eyes of the children when they sleep at night in order to bring good dreams.
These stories and mythical characters may help children sleep. However, it is a different scenario for adults who have insomnia. Having sleepless nights may lead to detrimental effects to your health. Symptoms of this includes difficulty determining awake or sleeping states, feeling of floating when awake, a feeling of being tired at all times and restlessness and irritability.
There are three classifications of insomnia which are transient insomnia, acute insomnia and chronic insomnia. First, transient insomnia normally lasts after a couple of days up to less than a week. This may be caused by depression or stress in life. Secondly, acute insomnia is a type of insomnia that lasts less than a month. On the other hand, chronic insomnia normally lasts for more than a month. There are some things that need to be studied such as the quality of sleep, sleeping pattern, and efficiency of mental functioning during the day to help diagnose the condition. Overall management for insomnia includes pharmacological methods and hypnotherapy.
The usual sleep aids for insomnia comprise both pharmacological methods and hypnotherapy. These two will be done together for a better result. A hypnotherapist can bring about a change in behavior or reduce anxiety. Insomnia hypnosis reprograms the brain to suppress your disturbing thoughts and may be effective in solving sleeping difficulty caused by psychological reasons. However, hypnosis will not produce hasty results. You would need to have enough patience and wait for the therapy to work.
